Terra Classic Seeks 253 Million LUNC Payment for Completed Hyperlane Bridge to Ethereum, BSC and Solana
Terra Classic has a new governance proposal requesting 253,074,165.29 LUNC from the Community Pool to pay for the completed Hyperlane bridge integration connecting LUNC and USTC with Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana.
The payment request was submitted by developer Igor Veras, who says the work approved under governance proposal #12200 has been completed and deployed to production. The original proposal approved a budget of $12,000, subject to full production deployment, public verification and identity verification through KYC.
The new proposal seeks to fulfill that payment agreement. According to the delivery report, the bridge infrastructure is operational, its contracts and configuration are publicly documented, and governance controls the core infrastructure deployed on Terra Classic.
253 Million LUNC Payment Request Explained
The proposal requests 253,074,165.29 LUNC from the Terra Classic Community Pool. The requested amount corresponds to the original $12,000 budget approved under proposal #12200, converted into LUNC for payment.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Developer | Igor Veras |
| Requested payment | 253,074,165.29 LUNC |
| Funding source | Terra Classic Community Pool |
| Original proposal | #12200 |
| Approved budget | $12,000 |
| Payment recipient | terra14yvuxm40affmkt36m2ummvzvlka25u3ucurxjl |
| Developer verification | SolidProof KYC certificate |
The original budget allocated $9,000 for infrastructure and $3,000 for the bridge user interface. The developer states that additional features, including a transaction explorer, monitoring dashboard and relayer reward system, were delivered without requesting extra payment.
Importantly, the original approval under proposal #12200 does not mean the newly requested payment has already been approved. The community must consider the payment request through the applicable governance process.
Hyperlane Bridge Connects LUNC and USTC to Three Major Networks
The completed integration allows users to transfer LUNC and USTC between Terra Classic and three external blockchain networks: Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana.
The bridge uses Hyperlane’s cross chain messaging infrastructure and warp routes. On Terra Classic, the LUNC and USTC warp contracts use native tokens as collateral. Corresponding tokens on the destination networks represent the assets transferred through the bridge.
This integration provides another route for Terra Classic assets to reach users and applications outside the original network. It could also expand the potential use of LUNC and USTC across different blockchain ecosystems, although actual adoption will depend on user demand, liquidity and continued bridge operation.
Users can access the bridge interface through bridge.terra-classic.io or terraclassic-bridge.xyz.
Community Governance Controls the Terra Classic Infrastructure
One of the main points highlighted in the delivery report is the transfer of ownership and administrative control of the Terra Classic side of the bridge to on chain governance.
Proposal #12229, which passed on October 6, 2026, transferred ownership of the Hyperlane infrastructure to the governance module. Proposal #12230, which passed on October 8, 2026, addressed contract migrations and the deployment of audited code, including a fix for a duplicate signature counting issue in the multisig Interchain Security Module.
According to the report, the bridge’s core contracts on Terra Classic are owned or administered by governance, while the LUNC and USTC warp contracts have no administrative migration authority. Their ownership remains with governance.
On Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, the bridge’s relevant contracts are controlled through a Safe multisignature wallet requiring four of six authorized signers. On Solana, the corresponding infrastructure is controlled through a Squads multisignature setup with the same four of six threshold.
This arrangement distributes control among multiple signers rather than relying on a single wallet. However, the security of the bridge also depends on validator operations, smart contract security, multisignature management and the correct functioning of its messaging infrastructure.
Six Community Validators Support Cross Chain Transfers
The bridge uses a set of six community validators, with at least four signatures required for the relevant checkpoints. These signatures help verify messages sent from Terra Classic to other supported networks.
The delivery report lists the following validators:
- Igor Veras
- TCV, formerly associated with Highstakes.ch
- DarkSun
- BurnItAll
- LuncGoblins
- bumeo
The report explains that several validators named in the original proposal later decided not to participate. Additional community members were brought in to complete the six validator set.
Messages arriving on Terra Classic are checked against the validator configurations of their respective origin networks. The report lists a four of six threshold for BNB Smart Chain, six of nine for Ethereum, and three of five for Solana.
Users and community members can review validator activity, relayer deliveries and other operational information through the official bridge monitoring dashboard.
Additional Tools Delivered Without Extra Payment
Beyond the original integration scope, the developer reports delivering several tools designed to improve transparency, monitoring and maintenance.
Hyperlane Explorer: The explorer allows users to inspect cross chain messages and related transaction activity through explorer.terraclassic-bridge.xyz.
Bridge Monitoring Dashboard: The monitoring platform displays validator checkpoints, relayer deliveries, operator balances, gas quotes and contract ownership information. It is available at monitor.terraclassic-bridge.xyz.
Relayer Reward System: The system uses an on chain reward vault to compensate the relayer for successfully delivering messages. Users pay interchain gas fees on the originating network, while delivery proofs are used to release the corresponding rewards.
Official Hyperlane Registry Listing: Terra Classic and its LUNC and USTC warp routes have been added to Hyperlane’s official registry through merged pull requests #1559 and #1687, according to the delivery report.
Security Improvements: The integration also includes a fix for a duplicate signature counting issue identified by community researcher Fragwuerdig. The developer states that the fix was implemented through proposal #12230.
The developer says these additional deliverables are included in the original $12,000 budget, with no additional payment requested for them.
Solana Deployment Costs Were Funded Separately
The requested 253,074,165.29 LUNC payment covers the work approved under proposal #12200. The developer states that the Solana deployment costs were funded separately through proposal #12222.
A dedicated funding report documents the 9,873,590 LUNC allocated for Solana rent and lists the related transactions. According to the report, those funds have been fully accounted for, with no remaining amount to return.
This distinction is important because the new payment request is intended to cover the original integration budget rather than reimburse the separately funded Solana deployment expenses.
What the Hyperlane Bridge Could Mean for Terra Classic
Cross chain connectivity has been an important infrastructure challenge for Terra Classic. The Hyperlane integration creates another way for LUNC and USTC to move between networks, potentially improving access to external liquidity and blockchain applications.
The developer describes the bridge as a community controlled alternative to infrastructure that depends on a single company. The stated design distributes responsibilities across governance, validator operators, multisignature wallets and an on chain relayer reward system.
However, decentralised control does not eliminate every risk. Cross chain bridges can still face smart contract vulnerabilities, validator failures, liquidity constraints and operational problems. Continued monitoring, independent security reviews and active community maintenance remain important.
The project is also open source, with its core contracts, user interface, explorer, monitoring tools and documentation published through the Terra Classic Hyperlane GitHub organisation.
What Happens Next?
The latest proposal asks the Terra Classic community to release 253,074,165.29 LUNC from the Community Pool as payment for the completed integration. The original $12,000 budget was approved under proposal #12200, while the new request seeks to complete the payment under the original conditions.
Community members can review the deployment records, governance decisions, contract information and funding documentation before assessing the request. The final outcome depends on the applicable governance process and the community’s decision.
If approved, the payment would compensate the developer for the agreed integration work connecting Terra Classic with Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana. The bridge and its supporting tools are presented in the delivery report as completed infrastructure intended to remain under distributed community control.
