Over 115 Billion LUNC Disappeared From Staking What Actually Happened

On 23 November at 07:59 AM UTC the Terra Classic network showed about 966 billion LUNC staked, equal to 14.92 percent of the total supply.

One hour later at 08:59 AM UTC the staking total dropped to about 850 billion LUNC or 13.13 percent. Around 115 billion LUNC appeared to be removed from staking.

Later the same day at 21:59 UTC the staking amount returned to around 966 billion LUNC.

The real reason was that AutoStake one of the biggest validators went into jail status for a short time. This validator holds around 115 billion LUNC and jailed stake does not appear in the active staking total.

The change was not caused by mass unstaking. The stake became invisible because the validator was jailed. Once AutoStake returned to normal, the missing 115 billion LUNC appeared again.

Right now the staking system is working normally. AutoStake is active and healthy. The current staked amount is 969,080,575,159 LUNC with more than 2 billion LUNC added in the last 24 hours.
